In this current society, the existence of the United States holds a great part. The mammoth sized military and the huge economy, where it has great effects over the world, puts a firm stance of the United States throughout the world. Although the United States holds a great part in the world, many countries have discontented views towards the United States because its selfish foreign interference that only benefits their own country. The United States government interference in foreign countries brings upon many cons that have to do with the whole nation. The United States role played in Georgian-Russian war, the United States interference in South Korea’s export and import business, and the United States interference in the war between Israel and other Middle East countries are some pertinent examples to explain the United States interfering on other countries.
To begin with, the United States interference in the Georgian Russian war has

emerged a serious tension between the two superpowers, the United States and Russia. At

mid august, Georgian force attempted the annexation of the pro-Russian people in South

Ossetia for the complete separation from the Russia. For the reasons of attacking their fellow

Ossetians, Russia triggered an attack on Georgia, and completely demolished the country

within five days (Strategy). Georgia was one of the countries that sought for the ideas of

democracy, and it has always been the job for the United States to help countries who wanted

to join the thoughts of democracy. As the Secretary of the states Ms.Rice says that Georgia

can still join the NATO after the war (Barry), it shows how the United States wants Georgia

to become democracy and interfere between the relations between Russia and Georgia.. As the United States aiding a fellow country, and Russia sacking the country after some time, it

is an obvious thing that tensions between two countries arose. Obama stated directly to

Russia saying, “Resurgent and very aggressive Russia is a threat to the peace and stability of

the region" (Agence). Because the over exceeding action of the United States trying to set up

a missile site near Russia, the pressure between the two countries grew even further than the

past.

The United States interference in South Korea by passing Free Trade Agreement has deducted the South Korean economy, and the spirit of the South Koreans. As foreign products swarmed into South Korea, it was likely to see a person getting a Big Mac at Mc Donald’s or buying a Ford Mustang from a Ford dealer for double the price paid in the United States. The reason is the huge amount of tax charged when the items get shipped from the United States to South Korea. In present South Korea, FTA’s (Free Trade Agreements) are one of the important issues. FTA’s are “Arrangements among two or more countries under which they agree to eliminate tariffs and non tariff barriers on trade in goods among themselves” (Cooper). FTA’s may abolish tariffs that come with South Korea products or the United States products and develop the trade line between the United States and South Korea. But it can also bring a chaotic result to the South Korean companies. For example, if Ford cars are imported to South Korea without any tariffs, many of the South Koreans will choose Ford instead of Hyundai cars because majority of South Koreans prefer American products rather than Korean products. Also, there is a possibility that Hyundai will be unsuccessful in their profits if they lose majority of the car buyers in their native country, resulting huge damage to their incomes, dismissing their employees and creating many jobless people. Another example to explain this problem is the possibility of increase in rice price. The staple food of Korea is currently rice, and with the FTA passing on the issues of rice, the United States will achieve great profits from this. The United States does not grow rice that much, but still, the production of rice is over ten times more than South Korea, because the United States has huge farm production in the middle states. At first, Americans might sell their rice cheaper American produced rice. As a result, many of the Korean farmers will quit their jobs as a farmer, and then, not all, but some greedy individuals in America will increase price of the rice, thus making the consumers to buy the expensive rice without any choice. Because of this reason, many “South Korean farmers and leftist civic groups have staged daily protests against the trade pact” (Choe). It is a huge benefit towards the United States, but it holds a huge disadvantage towards South Korea. But, there is nothing that South Korea can do, because South Korea is almost like a satellite country of the United States. Though, majority of the South Korean citizens are growing extreme hatred, even creating anti-American group.
Lastly, the United States role in the Middle Eastern conflict between Israel and Palestine has brought hatred from the Muslim countries towards the United States. As many people know, Israel is one of the permanent allies of the United States. By the mighty weapons of the United States, Israel fought against the Palestine over the land claim. Israel bombarded Palestine, with the power of the United Sates, thus making the Palestine people create hatred against any countries helping Israel. Not only Palestine, but such countries as Egypt, or Syria have hatred against the United States too. In the war at 1963, Israel attacked Syria because of the guerrilla attacks that were going on between the two nations. Egypt and other Arab league comes into the war, and fights Israel, but with the support of the United States, the Arab league lost the war, and Israel got more rights and power over the Middle East country. The United States did not directly help the war, but supplied enormous amount of war supplies. (Bard) The United States exercising their militant power in order to help their allies to crush other countries, created enormous hatred from the Middle East countries.
The unnecessary interference of the United States towards other countries created unbeneficial status in relations among other countries. Actions of trying to build a missile site near Russia grounds, passing the Free Trade Agreement in South Korea, and the aid towards Israel when Israel was having a conflict with other Middle Eastern countries, brought up extreme hatred towards the United States. The United States should not only think about their benefits, exercising their dominancy in power. They should think about the public sentiment around the world, and exercise their power fairly, because the United States is symbolized as a paramount democracy of the world.

Dong focuses on the issue of how U.S. as a super-power interferes with the internal matters of the foreign countries for its own benefit causing discontent of many countries towards its unfair actions. He supports his claim with the examples of the Georgian-Russian war where Georgia was backed by U.S. in becoming a part of NATO. This action of U.S. accompanied by their attempt to build missile power near Russia surely raised contempt among Russian government against the super-power. The other example stated by him is that of F.T.A. agreement signed between U.S. and South Korea which allowed free flow of U.S. goods into the South Korean market. This would affect the native Hyundai car owners and the rice-farmers thereby causing tension between the government and the workers. The last example that he uses is that of the tension between the middle-eastern countries because of U.S military aid to Israel against countries like Palestine, Egypt and Arab league.
The examples stated here tie very well with the main thesis. He has explained from all the perspectives why U.S. is interfering into the political (Russia-Georgia), economic (South Korea) and military matters (middle-eastern) of foreign countries. But what is lacking is the United States position on its actions for or against different countries and also the weakness and strengths in the arguments presented by U.S. I also feel that he should elaborate the examples dwelling more into the details like what is NATO and how making Georgia a part of it would affect Russia. He does remain consistent in tying all his examples back to the thesis. The conclusion successfully reiterates the thesis but the missing part is that there is no mention of how he would want U.S. to stay out of interference into other countries and how other countries should solve this issue.
